Frequently Asked Questions

How can an agency be considered for a Focus Area Grant?

The Foundation seeks creative and innovative solutions, as well as effective partners, to build and strengthen the community. Focus Area Grants are made in response to specific Requests for Proposal issued by the Foundation. If your organization has information or ideas that might be of interest to the Foundation, you are welcome to send us your thoughts in a brief (less than one page) e-mail to ideas@benwood.org.

Who can apply for grants and how?

Any non-profit organization in Hamilton County may apply for a Community Grant. Organizations seeking support for capital campaigns are encouraged to discuss their request with the Benwood Staff prior to submitting a proposal. Except for capital campaigns, United Way and Allied Arts agencies cannot be funded through Community Grants, since the Foundation is already supporting them through its support of United Way and Allied Arts. These agencies are welcome to respond to Requests for Proposal regarding Focus Area Grants. For Community Grant application forms, click here.

If my Community Grant application was declined, can I apply again this year?

An applicant may only apply one time in a twelve-month period.
